Call for Papers: 4th World Congress of Existential Therapy (2026)

The Call for Papers for the Fourth World Congress of Existential Therapy is open. In 2026 the World Congress will be held June 3-6 in Boulder, CO. The host for the next biannual is the Rocky Mountain Humanistic Counseling and Psychotherapy Association (RMHCPA).

The conference committee encourage all those interested in submitting a proposal to begin thinking about what you would like to present at the Congress. They are adding an opportunity to submit early and be notified of acceptance of your proposal early. If you submit your proposal by July 15, 2025, they will let you know if your proposal has been accepted by September 1, 2025. This option is being offered because some presenters may need to apply early for visas given that this process may take longer than typical. While particularly important for people needing a visa letter, they encourage anyone who is planning to submit a proposal to aim for the earlier deadline.

For other submissions submitted prior September 15, the committee will do their best to review and provide early notification of acceptance.

It is not required that presentations be related to the conference theme, “Community, Authenticity, and the Mystery of Being.” However, they say if they have a large number of submissions, relevance to the theme may be considered when selecting which papers are accepted. There are four types of presentations that can be submitted: 1) Paper presentations, 2) Symposiums, 3) Experiential Workshops, and 4) Poster Presentations.

The committee encourage all who wish to submit a proposal to review the information on this page to make sure your proposal fits with the submission requirements. (Be sure to use the correct link to submit your proposal.

The final deadline for submissions will remain November 1, 2025. People can submit proposals by visiting https://www.wcet4.com/submissions/.

Dr. Schneider advocates for an urgent, depth, and existentially oriented approach to healing.

The Society of Humanistic Psychology 17th Annual Conference

How can humanistic psychology actualize itself today to meet the needs of a fast-paced, distracted, survival-focused, experientially-avoidant, interpersonally-isolated, rating- and metric-centered, systems-blind, toxically-masculine, xenophobic, inequitized, traumatized, polarized, technocratic, post-truth, post-pandemic society-in-transition? Paradoxically, to accomplish that undertaking, “Old Saybrook 3” also celebrates the wisdom of our elders and reminds us not to turn a blind eye to their rich and enriching intellectual and experiential contributions. How might we demonstrate that humanistic psychology is, far from being a mere historical relic, well-equipped in its core values and theory/philosophy, pluralistic methods, and robust, decades-long canon of research/scholarship to resonate with the 2020s zeitgeist? And, with that, what can we do to promote an I-Thou way of being in an increasingly I-It world?
