Sophie Ducrocq Archibald, LCSW, is an associate professor in the Department of Social Work and Gerontology. She earned her Ph.D. in Mind-Body Medicine from Saybrook University. Her main interests include therapeutic relationships, therapists’ lived experience, therapeutic presence, and the interconnected nature of relationships. She studied “therapists’ lived experience of therapeutic relationships” for her dissertation using a heuristic qualitative method. She presented at local conferences, national, international conventions, and workshops. She obtained a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Utah in 2013 and has over a decade of experience working as an existential-humanistic psychotherapist in community mental health, private practice, outpatient, and intensive outpatient settings. She supported children, youth, families, and adults dealing with anxiety-related disorders, OCD, and trauma-related disorders. Sophie was born and raised in France and has lived in the United States since 1997. She finds connection and grounding through ancient spiritual wisdom, nature, dancing, and traveling.
