The board and instructors are excited to have Chris join EHI as an Affiliate Instructor. Chris was one of the instructors at this year’s recent Core Skills in E-H Psychotherapy workshop, which is held annually each November for 32 clinicians.
Chris Deussing, DSW, LCSW, C-DBT, is a licensed clinical social worker and a leading clinician specializing in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and contemporary psychoanalysis. He is the owner and director of Integrative DBT & Psychotherapy LLC, a practice dedicated to offering humanistic, action-oriented, and client-centered care to individuals seeking “a life worth living.”
For over 20 years, Dr. Deussing has helped clients navigate mood difficulties, trauma, grief and loss, addiction, personality disorders, psychosis, relationship challenges, and other complex presentations. He is a self-described “technical integrationist,” fluent in DBT and contemporary psychoanalytic methods, creating a therapeutic space rooted in compassionate love and kindness while also building mastery of evidence-based skills.
As an expert group facilitator, Chris runs multiple DBT skills-level groups, process groups, and clinical supervision groups, drawing from his intensive training on the DBT team at Belmont Center from 2010-2013. He is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Florida, Colorado, and Hawaii.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Deussing is an active member of the crisis intervention team at Burning Man, has completed certification in psychedelic-assisted therapies at the California Institute for Integral Studies, and serves as a field instructor for the University of Pennsylvania.
In addition, he hosts a podcast series, The Talking Cure with Dr D, available via YouTube, where he explores deep themes in psychotherapy, DBT, psychoanalysis, and living wisely in uncertain times. This series offers insights and conversations relevant to therapists, clients, and anyone interested in mental health and meaning-making.
